Who Are We?
The GI Group at the University of Sydney Human Nutrition Unit consists of research scientists and dietitians working with Prof Jennie Brand-Miller, an internationally recognised authority on carbohydrates and health.
Members of the group are involved in a variety of research and consultancy programs. These include: the management of blood glucose; the importance of carbohydrate in the diet; the links between the glycemic index and weight loss, the glycemic index of foods and its practical applications; and managing the GI testing program and maintaining the GI database.

Researching the effects of diet (especially low- and high-GI) on insulin sensitivity, fuel selection and gene expression. Produces Gene Chip microarray analysis solutions and supervises the data-management for SUGIRS helping implement continual improvements to testing methodology. Built the GI database search engine. |
Scott Dickinson, PhD

Web design and management of GI News and Glycemicindex.com. Scott was recently awarded his PhD in the area of glycemic index, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular disease risk. |
